Pascal Saker and the Human Brain
On Monday 10 June we meet Pascal Saker, brain expert. Pascal taught us a lot of interesting things.
One thing he taught us was that a adults brain weighs 1.5 kilograms. A brain has 100 billion neurons.
The brain also commands our movement so if you lift a arm it is because your brain tells you to.
Without a brain we would be useless. We wouldn't be able to see, hear, touch, smell or taste.
Pascal also told us about a girl called Sophie who hated spelling but liked swimming and really liked diving. Her parents got some of those fridge magnets (the alphabet ones). They threw them into a swimming pool and told Sophie to dive in and spell a word. When she found the first letter she swam up and put it onto the side of the pool. She kept doing this until she found the whole word and now she is top of her class in spelling.
Pascal's visit taught us a lot about the human brain. He was really interesting.
