Outside the small shabby shack on the outskirts of town, the wind howled in the distance like a lone wolf to the moon. Inside sits a young boy with a carving knife, slowly transforming a piece of wood into something amazing. His father stands in the doorway, his beard drooping below his chin.
“Happy Birthday!” his father says as he places a small piece of cake and a candle in front of him, “Make a wish”.
As the boy blows out the candle he silently wishes to be normal, to be like everyone else.
“Good job son”.
“For what?” the boy cries, “For being hideous?, For being chained up all day? How would you like it if you were locked up like a dog with people staring, laughing and pointing at your face?”
His father just stood there, unable to do anything but stare.
“Okay” he said and walked out of the room… “Leave then!”.
