Haunted House Creative Writing

Friday 13th October 1967... The moon illuminates the dark gloomy night and the trees throw themselves from side to side in the howling wind, while the shadows dance about, frolicing together. The mist surrounds the shadowy mansion, making it look like a place only souls would go. The harsh wind batters the house giving the illusion that it’s swaying. No-one has been to that house in many, many years. Why? you ask? because of that murder; the one that happened ever so many years ago in 1967. The spirit still lingers there waiting for the next victim... An immense clap of thunder followed by a large slap of lightning agitates the leaves, burning them to a crisp. The rain suddenly rushes down as if it’s in a hurry to be somewhere, drenching everything in it’s wake. This is what happened on the night of Friday 13th of October 1967... I was walking along the road, a long time after my curfew, when I stumbled across a house that I’d never seen before, the one I was looking for. I decided that I couldn’t back down now after all it was only a dare wasn’t it? I had never been out this way in town, it looked pretty deserted to me, I mean no-one is out here what’s the worst that could happen to me? I never come back? Bull. “It’s only a dare Eddy”, I told myself over and over in my head. “It’s only a dare.” I step through the rusty wrought iron gate that leads to the house, “It looks pretty haunted to me.” I thought. “Okay all I have to do is go and knock on the door, then my friends will come and get me after I’ve texted them. I walked up to the front door and knocked. As soon as I’d knocked the door mysteriously creaked open, the owner of the opener was no-where to be seen. I crept into the house, my curiosity overtaking my fear. Inside was what looked like the remains of an old mansion. I crept from to room thinking “I’ve got to bring my friend here! They’ll love it!” As soon as I said it, I regretted it because from the heart of the house came an entrancing but deadly voice saying… “Come little child and play with me, we’ll have lots of fun you’ll see.” It kept repeating the same horror sentence over and over. I started to back toward the door but before I could get there it slammed shut and I screamed, hoping someone would hear me and come, nobody did, I was trapped. The voice came closer but I couldn’t see the owner I was paralyzed with fear. I then felt a sharp pain, I sprinted around the house trying to find something, when I stumbled across a room with a young girl her chest soaked with blood. The door slowly creaked shut behind me, and I noticed a shadow coming up from behind… With a knife in hand, pointed directly at me and I knew I would never get out alive... EPILOGUE: And with that goes the old tale of the meaning of Friday 13th. A boy died for a truth or dare game, his friends or family never saw him again until one day on that same day many years later another young girl stumbled across the house went inside and never returned, she saw the body of Edward and tried to contact the police, she died before she even realised what was happening. So don’t let curiosity get the better of you, you never know; you might stumble across your own Haunted House… By Ella M
